Best Time To Visit Rudranath Trek
The temple is only open for about six months a year. Outside that window, snow shuts the whole route down, so timing matters more here than on most treks. Once the monsoon clears, the trail firms up and the meadows are still green, with clearer mornings for views of Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Nanda Ghunti. The other good window is mid-May to end-June, before the pre-monsoon haze sets in. The temple and route close from November through April once the snow comes in.

Delhi / Rishikesh to Sagar Village
We pick you up from Delhi or Rishikesh, whichever suits your travel plans, and drive up through Rudraprayag and Gopeshwar toward Sagar Village. It's a long day either way, so we keep it easy on stops and let you settle into your stay by evening.
Sagar Village to Lyuti Bugyal via Pung Bugyal
There's no warm-up on this trek, the trail climbs almost from the moment you leave Sagar. You'll move through oak and rhododendron forest before Panar Bugyal opens up, then a steadier climb to Lyuti Bugyal, your camp for the next two nights.
Lyuti Bugyal to Rudranath Temple and Back
This is the day the whole trek is built around. The trail climbs to the Pitradhar ridge, around 4,000 m, before dropping toward the temple at 3,600 m. Have your darshan, sit by Vaitarni Kund, and head back down to Lyuti Bugyal the same day.
Lyuti Bugyal to Sagar Village
The way down is faster than the way up. You'll retrace the trail through Panar Bugyal and back into the forest, reaching Sagar by afternoon.
Sagar Village to Rishikesh / Delhi
An early start for the drive back down, retracing the road through Gopeshwar and Rudraprayag. You'll be dropped at Rishikesh or Delhi by evening, trek done.

The trekking window here is short, and fixed batches in peak months tend to fill up fast given how few departures actually run on this route. The earlier you lock your dates, the more choice you have on both timing and group size.

It's rated difficult, and genuinely so. There's no easy warm-up section, the trail climbs from Sagar Village almost immediately, and you're covering close to 20 km one way with a steep ridge crossing at Pitradhar. Reasonable fitness and a bit of prior trekking experience both help here.
The other Panch Kedar temples either have shorter walks or are reachable partly by road. Rudranath has neither. It's a long, continuous trek through forest and meadow with a high ridge crossing, and very few exit points once you've started, which is exactly why it has that reputation.
Our Rudranath trek package runs 5 days and 4 nights from Delhi or Rishikesh, pickup and drop included. The core trek itself, Sagar to the temple and back, takes about 3 days of actual walking, with a day of travel on either end.
Our Rudranath trek cost starts from ₹12,999 per person for the full 5 day, 4 night package with Delhi or Rishikesh pickup. This covers permits, stay, meals, transport, and guide support. It doesn't cover personal expenses, offload charges, or travel insurance.
Mid-May to end-June and September to October are the two windows worth planning around, when the trail is clear and the meadows are at their best. The route closes from November through April due to snow.
It can be, but we won't pretend it's an easy first trek. If you're reasonably fit and have done some hiking or long walks before, you can manage it. If this would be your very first trek ever, we'd honestly suggest something shorter first and coming back to Rudranath once you know your pace on a trail.
Registration at the Forest Department desk in Sagar Village is mandatory before you start, along with a valid photo ID. We handle this as part of every Rudranath trek package, so you're not stuck dealing with paperwork on the morning of the trek.
The network holds up reasonably well till Sagar Village, then gets patchy, and mostly disappears past Pung Bugyal. Electricity is available at Sagar but not at the Lyuti Bugyal camp, so charge your devices the night before you head up and carry a power bank.

Cancellations made 30 days before the trek start date will receive a 90% refund. Cancellations between 15-30 days will receive a 50% refund. No refunds are provided for cancellations within 15 days of the departure.
Your booking is confirmed only after the receipt of the initial booking amount. A confirmation voucher will be sent to your registered email within 24 hours of payment verification.
A 25% advance payment is required to secure your slot. The remaining balance must be cleared at least 15 days prior to the trek departure date. We accept all major credit cards, UPI, and bank transfers.
Rescheduling requests are accepted up to 20 days before the trek start date, subject to availability and a nominal processing fee. Rescheduling within 20 days is treated as a cancellation.
